We have lived year-round in the Damariscotta area for several years and were excited to learn of the opening of Riverside Butcher. We have now tried virtually every cut and type of meat (e.g. beef, pork, lamb, chicken) they sell – all of it from local farms. The quality and flavor are unmatched and the service is truly exceptional. We have tried similar products from other establishments in central Maine, the mid-coast area and Portland. None of them comes close to the quality provided by August and Ryan. Even if you live, say, 2 hours from Damariscotta, it is worth the drive. In addition to their incredible meat selection, they have a nice sample of wines and craft beers. That said, it is the quality of their meats and the incredible service that make Riverside Butcher a weekly destination for us. There is NO better place in the state!

We thought we'd check it out last week with a simple order of burgers and dogs. The burgers were hand packed for us, and were just the right amount of fat for perfect grilling. We were all very pleasantly surprised. Excellent service, too.

We were visiting Damariscotta and stopped into Riverside Butcher Co. We purchased some fresh duck breast to make the next night. It was amazing! We usually have had it frozen but this was fresh and delicious. We seared it and served it with a blueberry port reduction sauce. Yummy! Wish we were in town for more days because everything at Riverside Butcher Co. looked fantastic!

Well done! They showcase incredible meats - the beat roast beef and turkey sliced to perfection by the butcher. A nice assortment of wine and area specialty salts. Worth a stop on your way in to the lakehouse to stock up on stick dogs and cold cuts.
