The website is way clunky. Before I can select a date for an appointment, I must select a stylist. That's probably great if I insist on seeing one and only one stylist. But if there are three who I think do a good job, but I just want a cut on Tuesday, then I'm gonna need to spend some time clicking around.

Paid 30 dollars for 15 min of work when no barber was ever done with my hair in less than 30 ( i grow it out so i assume it takes a while to cut?). Left looking like I got a haircut 2 months ago instead of just now: the dude didnt bother with my sideburns or half my head. Most of it is patchy. Pointed out to him an area sticking out and he said i should part it and style it. Cool. He had to go on break and get some food, so i understand.

A super cool shop in an awesome part of Portland. All the barbers seem very experienced and seem to love what they do. The single reason I’m not giving it a 5-star is because the barber I chose didn’t really want to listen to how I wanted my hair. And the only reason I’m not giving it a 2 or 3-star is because it actually came out looking better than I had wanted it. So props to them. I’d just recommend listening to clients, in the off chance it doesn’t go as well as it did with me. As a barber myself, I know it’s hard when someone wants a bad haircut, but compromise can be good.

This is how you run a business and cut hair in the 21st century. From easy reservations on the website with specific stylists to a welcoming atmosphere to the professional cuts, I was impressed with it all. The price is on the upper range for male cuts but with their professional system, this place deserves every penny.

Just moved here from VA and luckily found this spot. This place is amazing. Eddy cut my hair to perfection. He faded it perfectly and cleaned me up. I’m a once a week haircut freak and have moved around the US plenty the Pat few years trying to find “that haircut.” 1st try at a place I read reviews about and no wonder they have 5 stars. Wish I could give more but trust my word on this. They are extremely talented, hospitable, and friendly. Place is perfect. Cut was decent, somewhat rude staff (seemed more interested in talking with each other than cutting hair and customer service). The guy who cut my hair clearly didn't want to be there and this did not make for a hospitable experience. They did offer a slight discount when I told them it was cut shorter than I requested. The hot towel was a nice touch. I won’t be returning. There are friendlier places in town with equal or better craftsmanship.

My usual barber has been booked solid for weeks. Which is amazing for him and I'm glad business is good right now. However, I was in dire need of a hair cut and I simply could not wait it out. I stumbled across this place online and I'm glad I found it. Parking was a little tough, but that location overall is in a cool place. The shop itself is really nice and everyone I encountered was very friendly. Trying a new barber is always a hassle, but Ashley understood what I wanted immediately. She works very efficient but also very quickly. I couldn't be more happy with the results and I was in and out in less than half an hour. Highly recommend checking this place out if you're looking for a new barber or just a place to get your hair cut every once in a while.

I'll highly recommend Brick & Mortar. They cover the expectations of a traditional barber shop but surprise! they're great for the whole family! I took my two boys there for cuts and we all walked out happy. The owner is a parent who also doesn't like to see his kids have sugar-heavy drinks and so, I didn't have to be the bad dad that said no. Everyone was happy.

The guys are great and do a good job... But they raised their prices and it's not worth it anymore. Last several times they didn't even do a hot towel at the end even though the website says it's included. Was charged $45, website says haircuts start at $35, even though I have short hair, so idk what I am getting charged for only a 20 min cut :\. Would go back and change my review if they prices lowered under $30 like how it was when I first started going here 3 years ago, and they used to hot towel back then. I have to assume they raise the prices to afford to give beer and coffee to customers, but I never drink it so why should I contribute?

Co-owner Cory Lee is my guy, but everyone here will do right by you. They do nice clean fades and perfect, smooth straight razor shaves. A complimentary beverage is offered with every cut which makes every visit a pleasant break from the day. Book one or two days in advance if you can.

Brick and Mortar is a rock solid barber shop with a fantastic crew. Centrally located in inner SE PDX makes it a convenient stop. The vibe is laid back and it takes the best cues from other barber shops, like refreshing adult beverages, without trying too hard to be hip or trendy. I've been going to Mikey for years and would recommend him to anyone looking for a good and friendly barber. Plenty of Portlanders know the issues Modern Man Barbershop are facing. I assure you this is not the case. This shop was started by one of the OG Modern Man barbers and is staffed by Portland's best. The new shop is in a very accessible location and is very comfortable and clean. Get your hair cut by one of the Three Amigos: Mikey, Cory, and, Chase.
