Cindy Day is spectacular. We wandered into the Dutch Maid Bakery on a whim and immediately were overwhelmed by the smell of warm maple. The bakery was supposed to be closed, but Cindy greeted us with the warmest welcome and told us all about her freshly baked goods. I bought a DOZEN coconut macaroons (which may have changed my life), a Maple Table cake (which our noses forced us into), and a peanut butter chocolate square (which looked way too good to pass up). We sat in the parking lot in beautiful silence as we each ate a coconut macaroon, subtle tears of bliss rolling down our cheeks (possible slight dramatization). Needless to say, EVERYTHING was incredible. We will come back. We have to because we didn’t get to try Cindy’s cinnamon rolls!! What’s more than the allure of so many more treats to try, is having another conversation with the extraordinary baker who’s hands made each one of them.
Love this place! Has more character then you can shake a stick at and the food is delicious!!
Love, love, LOVE the Salt-Rising Bread! Only place I know to get this wonderful bread! Never have gotten anything at this place that wasn't wonderful!
Visited this little gem yesterday. Walked in the door and it smelled amazing! We only purchased items in the bakery. We loved the moonshine wedding bread!!!! Got the apple and apricot turnovers they were delish. Got sugar cookie it was average. The chocolate oatmeal cookie was terrible....very hard...and old! I was contemplating on getting one and I should have went with my gut feeling..to the owner.....toss those old cookies out! Otherwise if I had a fresh one and tasted kinda good you would have had a 5 star review.
Went there for a typical American breakfast. Scrambled eggs with bacon, sausage, fresh cream, pancakes and apple sauce. Amazing!! The coffee is good and the staff very nice. Always ask to fill up the cup of coffee. We brought some cookies before leaving. Very nice. This place is older than a century. Definitely worth a visit.
Great place but out of peach fried pie
Wonderful assortment of baked good. Chess bar was excellent
I love how the friendly the friendly staff and how they always help you with what you want
Had a great breakfast here after a weekend of hiking-camping. Will definitely return when in the area.
Great bakery. Breakfast is simple. Only a handful of items to choose from.
We were pleasantly surprised with this place. Glad we took the off road and ran across it. Yum!
Wonderful piece of history and great food.
Lots of great bakery choices, preserves, relishes, so on all with that personal touch that makes it taste wayyy better than you'll find in any supermarket. Great prices as well. Highly recommended.
A must visit!!!
Delicious!
Climbers trail is hard but fun
Veggie omlet 5stars
Great Bakery, nice place for a meal!
Awesome little bakery that will send you back in time! Fresh baked goods daily!!!
Was in the area a few weeks ago stopped in and sampled several goods.Didnt care for most of them, however the chess square I had was really good. Made the 45 min drive there again today with my family for those awesome chess squares I had told them about, they only had 1 and it was hard as a rock. We got some cookies that were equally as hard. Could have bitten into bricks for way less. We wasted an evening for that.
If you’re looking for “an excellent experience” in dining out, you MUST stop by Dutch Maid Bakery in Tracy City, TN. It’s more than just the tasty food, it’s the history, the warmth and charm of the old style bakery, but mostly, it’s the warm people friendly people who work here, combined with the beautiful presentation of the menu items ! Always a pleasure and a great value here. LOVE this place ! P.S., Do try (and take home) some of the yummy baked goods, especially the Apple Pie !
Love dutch maid bakery! Salt rise bread is the best! Always order 6 loaves to bring home!
I love this quaint little bakery. I've been going here since I moved to the area 10 years ago. Their spring salad is a big plate with chicken salad, potato salad, egg salad, pasta salad and fruit salad for $9.99. They have an assortment of fresh baked breads: Dill, Dill and Onion, Rosemary and Olive Oil, Sourdough, 100% Wheat Bread, Salt Rising Bread, White Bread, Cinnamon Raisin and more. They have an assortment of cookies that can be purchased individually or by the half dozen and dozen. There's usually an assortment of turnovers, pound cakes, danishes, and pastries. They also make custom cakes here. I love this little homie store.
Hospitality, generous, as we prepared to run the Socumos 1/2 marathon.
Lots of yummy homemade sweets
Must stop if in the area. Great baked goods.
Quaint old bakery full of yummy treats. The old fashioned coconut cream pies I ordered for my husband's birthday were delicious!
OMG!! Went for a truly authentic Homemade Friut Cake and came out with ALOT!! lol Excellent!!!!
Great place for hand made baked pastries and bread! Minimum $10 to use a credit card, but you'll have no problem meeting that amount!
It wasn't crowded, but we had a long wait for sandwiches for our group of four. Two in our group ordered the Deluxe Grilled Cheese with bacon. After a long wait(~25 min) their sandwiches came out with no bacon because they "ran out" and unmelted cheese. So $7.50 for a standard cheese sandwich and a vending machine sized bag of chips. The waitress didn't offer a substitute or an apology. We asked for turkey or some kind of meat for the sandwich and after checking with management, she brought out one thin deli slice of turkey for each person. The meat and cheese were not Boar's Head quality, more like Publix or a Walmart deli quality. The bread was very good, but we were very unhappy with the lunch overall. We should have stuck with their baked goods. Their Tennessee Mountain Moonshine Cakes are delicious.
We ate Reuben sandwiches here today! The service was fast and friendly! Must try the 7 layer bar or some m&m cookies!
It was an interesting place to visit. It really takes you back in time. The cafe had a good selection of light foods and they were tasty. The employees were very helpful and their cakes, cookies etc. are very good.
Since new owner ship I don't think the bread or most of the stuff supposedly made inside is made by them , after seeing sarah Lee wrapping in the dumpster! Some or most of the deserts are delivered.
Stopped for lunch, sandwiches were great. We shared a caramel apple dumpling which was flaky and hit the spot. Quaint cafe, and great baked goods-breads, pies, cookies, bars and turnovers! Well worth the stop
Good, but not great baked goods.
Quaint with delicious baked goods. The cafe next door was closed for "a large group" according to the sign on the door.
Sweet and charming bakery with all homemade goodies. Everyone was so kind and as sweet as there cookies! Come early breakfast or lunch.
This place is amazing. Miss Cindy and the other ladies here are all great and the food is the best in town. If you’re anywhere close, stop in. Also have some great bakery items.
What a great find
Great foods and breads with reasonable prices.
What a disappointment. Happened upon this place and thought we were in for a real treat. Unfortunately the food was average at best. The real let down was all the pastries "looked" so delicious so we bought a variety of items. NONE of them were good. What a let down. Do not reccomend this venue. Most of the reviews are "local guides."
The best moonshine cakes we have ever eat. A must if your in the area
A great place for lunch anytime you traveling on I-24 between Chattanooga and Nashville. I ordered the Chicken salad sandwich on wholewheat bread. All of the bread is made in house. It was excellent along with the cranberry cookies.
Love their pastries!
Tasty, fresh and friendly.
Fun place to learn about history, and buy all kinds of bread!
Good food at the cafe and even better baked goods to take home
Great service! Very nice people! Great baked goods. Food awful! My wife said it was like going to someone's grandma's house but grandma didn't know how to cook. Sunday is buffet only and expensive and bad. I will come back but only for baked goods
One of the South's greatest unknown secrets!
Lots of baked goods. Not sure how many they're baking for...Or, how fresh the goods are....
Very good bake goods
So many tasty treats. We did not eat in the restaurant, could not get past the baked goods! Took them to go and they were delish!
Moonshine cake was my favorite!
Homemade goodness! A place you must visit
Delicious treats and kind folks!
Oldest and best bakery in TN
Quaint and delicious! Perfect breakfast spot when camping at Foster Falls.
Cinnamon rolls
Smell'n Good !! The food is Delicious as always!!
This place is adorable! It's comfortable and has plenty of interesting antiques to look at. It feels like you're dining at a relatives instead of a restaurant, and I love that. Everyone was so kind and willing to help and everything was delicious! Definitely a place to come back to!
This place is Amazing!
Fantastic hidden gem!!! Delicious baked items.
Was disappointed. Used to be great, baked goods were stale and no fried pies were available
Best in Tennessee
Incredible bakery. Everything made on site. Cookies and pies to die for.
Not at all a Dutch Bakery, not friendly, and not native to Tennessee. The goods were definitely not baked there and the clerk gave us a load of sarcasm as we left, saying we should buy something to keep them in business. With that attitude, they deserve to die out.
Delicious bakery goods! Pies, cakes, cookies! And my favorite, pecan tasties, or as called them growing up, Elephant Ears! Cindy, the owner, is the Best!
Very friendly people, nice cute quaint place with more than fair prices. The bakery goods are delicious!
i love it just last year i went on a feildtrip to it love the chocolate whiskey cake give my thanks to the owner because i cant remember her name she deserves a thosand million $ i was in mrs. shlageters class
Place was dirty. Different size portions for the same orders. Huge pieces of celery in the chicken salad. Will not return.
Best in Tennessee!
Excellent food! People very friendly and great service!
Rich in history and even richer in delicious baked good. Their cinnamon rolls are pure heaven, their sweet breads (as in banana bread and beyond) taste just like grandma's best. If you're on a budget check out their day old/ marked down section in the back.
Very friendly staff, delicious baked goods. Can't wait to try their breakfast and lunch
Great cookies.
This place was so cool. They had an incredible array of baked goods that you could buy.
Great food, bakery, and service from the owner.
Service is excellent. Fruit tea is delicious. Baked goods are yummy. The food is fine, but more importantly, there is NOTHING else around.
Wonderful food! Tasty! Affordable! Unique! Distinctive! Cindy, the owner and Baker is a fountain of energy and goodness. I love this place!
The only place we can still find salt risen bread. And boy are their baked goods and lunches delish!
Very good bakery and great service!
Love how everything is always so fresh!!!!!
Love this place. Delicious food! Please get the Oatmeal Creme Pie.
Fantastic soup and chicken salad AND great salad!!! Fireplace blazing..awesome ....... And now it's on to pursue the delightful bakery items! Wonderful place for lunch....don't miss it!
Great prices great bakery items and fresh bread
Friendly service, great food, generous portions
Don't miss this place if passing through Tracy City.
Moonshine cake to die for! Peanut butter bars...omg... everything is so yummy! Interesting collection of nostalgia all around as well. Nice people.
Love the cookies and pies
It's more uppity and busy w high prices
Very good
Worth the detour!
Everything is stale bad service
Delicious, fast courteous service
Friendly service. Tasty treats
Love this place, like a welcome home.
Really good breakfast. Delicious breads. Nice people.
What a great place. Turns out the owner is from around the same place as us. Yummy cookies and moon pies
It's a little off-the-beaten-track but well worth the trip. Good breakfast and lunch food and the sweets are phenomenal.
Great bakery. Friendly. Fresh items. Can't wait until the "White Christmas" cakes are available. This place is getting my vote for "Sweetest Bakery in America". Good luck Cindy.
I can see the appeal. We visited on a slow morning and they were understaffed. The coffee was too strong for me but fine for my wife. Just mini Moos -- no half a and half. The eggs were a little overdone but we were warned this wasn't the usual breakfast team. There were a lot of baked goods available so naturally some were more fresh than others. The combination of decent food and very interesting decor wins compared to other options in town.
Gourmet bread
Their fresh bread is amazing
Nice friendly people very accommodating.
Great breakfast and the moonshine wedding cakes are moist heavenliness.
Loved it! Food is excellent and service is friendly. Bakery is good too. Good prices. Would recommend.
Great pastries and things of that nature. However, I can not say too much for the Cafe as I have not ever eaten there. Great customer service every time I go!
Wonderful baked goods. Had breakfast in the cafe and it was delicious.
If you get a chance go there!
Food poisoning from the corn chowder.
Great made from scratch goodies!
Big selection of unusual bakery goods. Love this place.
Great food, wonderful atmosphere, fast service and reasonably priced.
I love the Bakery! It's a nostalgic and sweet experience!!
Thanks to Margaret for helping us out! Had a great time, enjoyed the almond cake and apricot turnover! The reuben was also the best I've ever had.
Delicious food and quaint antique bakery. Love this place.
Would have enjoyed a sampling of the breads made at the bakery with our lunch.
Sun dried tomato loaf was amazing.
Awwsome bread you will not be disappointed
Went to a painting class thought it was great.
I always stop by when in Tracy City. The baked goods are phenomenal!
Wonderful hospitality and menu, in very interesting historic location.
Sooooo delicious!!! The moonshine and bourbon bread are very good.
The lunch menu is quite limited in variety and the portions are very small. I got their signature dish, the famous chicken salad sandwich. The photo below shows the sandwich BEFORE I ate it. This cost is $8, which is overpriced for the quantity.
Wonderful food and great atmosphere! Really enjoy seeing the old relics of the past as well as trying the original recipes from long before my time!
Ate here sometime ago and loved it. I'm looking forward to going back.
Wonderfully experience for a rainy day!
Nice place ,
Real old style homemade bakery breads, pies, cookies, cinnamon rolls, pull aparts,...... Try it You'll like it! Hey Mikey
Great fresh vegetables and bread used in their meals
Love the sour dough bread and the moonshine cakes.
Very friendly and helpful staff, but more importantly the food was to die for! Best pancakes ever! Adding syrup would ruin them!
Great Family
The place is amazing!!! After reviewing the negative comments such as Mark Angus’ ignorant remarks, he obviously has never been to this establishment. The food and atmosphere was wonderful the staff was friendly helpful and so so sweet to me and my kids! If I could reply to that ignorant pompous ass I would. Small businesses drive America and I support this one in full! Clean and wholesome Cindy and her family run this bakery and do an amazing job! I’ll go any time I get the chance! LOVE IT!
FABULOUS ! amazing selection of pies, cakes and pastries. But as great as the food is the people who own it are even better !!!
Amazing baked goods and friendly service
Wonderful food and service.
Amazing Bakery located in Tracy city..worth the drive..perfect for breakfast, lunch or just coffee and a fresh baked pastry...wonderful staff and you can usually meet the owner and baker herself Cindy as she's usually close by baking more goodies...
